Accounting Association

About

MISSION:  The mission of Longwood University Accounting Association is to provide Longwood University College of Business and Economic Students, both United States and international, with a well-balanced roster of professional, social, and educational events for personal growth, professional development, and self-awareness.

WHO WE ARE:  The Longwood University Accounting Association provides its members with a means of interacting with other students and faculty in Longwood's accounting program as well as professionals who practice accounting for a living. This goal is accomplished through various meetings, seminars, and executive-in-residence's. The Accounting Association also provides opportunities for students to participate in community volunteering and leadership activities and to improve their interviewing and communication skills.  In addition, they will have the opportunity to build relationships with classmates outside of a classroom environment.  In short, this organization's purpose is to bridge the gap between college and the business world.

RELATIONSHIPS:  From the beginning of many accounting firms, the success was built on good relationships.  Today, we foster this theory by consistently reminding ourselves of our commitment to not only our members but to the firms who look for future leaders in our organization.  Firms such as Cherry Bekaert & Holland LLP, Keiter Stephens LLC, Watkins Meegan LLC, and Wells Coleman & Company LLP all come and provide interactive lectures to the association's members providing a unique opportunity for students to network.

KNOWLEDGE:  Each member of the Longwood University Accounting Association will develop knowledge through a roster of professional, career, and social events to kick-start any student's career.  The association is advised by an experienced professor who encourages and promotes learning for all association members.

EXPERIENCE:  We are proud of the character and integrity of our members. Before becoming involved in the Longwood University Accounting Association, many have had leadership roles in other organizations on-campus.  Many members go on to receive offers from top companies from across the country.
